Text Box: Working Vintage Festival 2012 - Rosemount on August 12th

Following on from our two successful gatherings at our new site in Rosemount Estate Greyabbey, the County Down Traction Engine Club are working hard to improve this year’s event.

In rally field of the Working Vintage Festival (as it is now known) there will be the usual attractions – 500+ vintage tractors, steam engines, vintage cars and motorcycles, vintage lorries, military vehicles, stationary engines, implements, archery, bread and butter making, craft tents, trade stands, autojumble, amusements, live music and much, much more for all the family. In addition the very popular and successful cultural displays of music, dancing, and story telling, reflecting all the cultures and traditions of the area will be further enhanced this year.

The original working area will feature the harvesting and threshing of oats, combining, baling, wood sawing, and tractor pulling and we have retained the additional working area which has been provided to facilitate a ploughing and cultivating display.

The shuttle service will be in operation ferrying the public to and from both working areas.

The ever popular “pick your own” potatoes will again be available to satisfy public demand.

The Festival is supported by Ards Tourism, Petticrew Hire, Charles Hurst, NFU Mutual Newtownards, NG Bell and others.

As is usual, on the preceding Friday evening there will be the now famous road run (starting at 6.30 sharp and featuring over 200 vintage tractors), The route is to be finalised but will be published in advance of the festival.

So for some great family entertainment, travel down to Rosemount estate in the village of Greyabbey on the evening of Friday11th and from 10.00 am on Saturday 12th August – you won’t be disappointed.
